First-time buyers will still be able to use Help to Buy to secure their home at a new development. Rivenhall Park, located off Forest Road, Witham, features 385 two and three-bedroom properties, all of which will be eligible for the new version of Help to Buy. The new initiative is now only available on new-build homes in Essex and Suffolk priced at £407,400 or below – the new regional price cap introduced for the East of England. First-time buyers who use the scheme only require a five per cent deposit and 75 per cent mortgage, as the remaining 20 per cent is provided as an equity loan from the Government, which remains interest-free for the first five years.
Jenny Walker, creator of the online petition, said: In September, people from different environmental groups went to the Parkway site and were totally surprised to see the lovely wood and vast reed bed. They organised an outdoor art gallery and were joined by lots of local people, sad about the idea of losing this wild and unspoilt place. Rather than destroying green spaces we should be taking measures to conserve them. Rather than building new roads into housing estates, we should be creating low traffic neighbourhoods with quieter, safer streets for our children.
A petition calling for West Norfolk Council to Save Lynn s Wild Woodland and Wetland has been signed by Stephen Fry and has raised more than 1,800 signatures.
COLWYN BAY shoppers have raised their concerns over a decline in places to go following the permanent closure of the town’s Argos store. Sainbury’s, which owns the high street retailer, said on Monday that it would close down its standalone stores that had not reopened since March, as well as an extra 300 stores across the UK. It is understood that this includes the store in the BayView Shopping Centre. The nearest Argos store is now in Llandudno with some Pioneer online readers commenting that this has taken away footfall and made shopping more difficult. “Since Argos has closed buying from Llandudno or even trying to get a delivery was near impossible,” said Jenny Walker. “Llandudno never had any of the items I wanted, therefore haven’t shopped there since April.”
THE first new residents are set to move into a new 145-home development. Bellway Homes hopes it will complete construction on some of the new houses at Hatfield Grove before the end of the year. The development is based on a former dairy next to Hatfield Peverel Station. The first homes were released to the market earlier than planned because demand was so high and Bellway says the scheme is moving forward at pace. Sales director Jenny Walker said: “Hatfield Grove is really beginning to take shape. It’s incredibly satisfying to see this important site finding a new lease of life, four years after the factory closed.
