Community gathers as investigation into Andre Hill s death continues
Hill was shot after Officer Adam Coy and another officer, a woman who has not yet been identified, responded to a non-emergency disturbance call about a running vehicle outside a home on the 1000 block of Oberlin Drive. The officers arrived around 1:50 a.m. Tuesday and within about 10 seconds after first encountering 47-year-old Hill, Coy fired multiple shots.
After the shooting, Coy and other responding officers did not render any aid to Hill for several minutes, according to body camera video. Hill, who was not armed, was later pronounced dead at OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Hospital.

Interim Marion Police Chief Jay McDonald is pleased to announce that Marion Police Officer Dylan Reese has been selected as the 2020 Marion PD Officer of the year.
Reese was nominated as a finalist by his supervisors along with Officers Matt Baldridge, Richard Wheeler and Ryan Kelly. The final selection process was conducted by a department-wide vote, which deemed Reese as the 2020 recipient of this honor.
“I appreciate the hard work, dedication and sense of mission displayed by each of these nominees”, said Interim Chief McDonald. “It says a lot about who these officers are when their supervisor submits their name as the shift nominee. To then be selected by a vote of your peers truly says it all and it is no surprise to me that Dylan was our top nominee because his desire to honorably serve our citizens is something we all see”, added McDonald.
