Montana Brothers Who Chased Black Officer In Capitol Building During Riot Indicted on Federal Charges
Two Montana brothers who were among the first to enter the Capitol building during the Jan. 6 riot and can be seen on video footage chasing a Black officer up a flight of stairs were charged Thursday with several federal offenses.
Joshua Calvin Hughes and Jerod Wade Hughes were two of the first 10 rioters to breach the Capitol building earlier this month as Congress certified Electoral College vote, the FBI said in charging documents.
The pair climbed through a broken window helped to kick a door down to allow more rioters to enter.

Federal prosecutors this week charged two brothers from Montana over their alleged roles in the Capitol riot, saying they were part of a group that chased a Capitol Police officer up a stairway, an incident that went viral after it was captured on video.
According to court filings submitted Thursday, Joshua Calvin Hughes and Jerod Wade Hughes turned themselves in at a Montana police station on Jan. 11.
A FBI affidavit filed with the court alleges that the two were part of the crowd that chased Capitol Police Officer Eugene Goodman up a set of stairs during the riot.

Two more Montanans have been charged for allegedly participating in the Jan. 6 riot at the Capitol building in Washington DC and being present at one of the most visible confrontations with authorities inside the Capitol.
Court documents state Helena area bothers Joshua Calvin Hughes and Jerod Wade Hughes turned themselves into the Helena Police after seeing national news coverage from the Capitol and believing they were wanted by the FBI.
