“By linking families to critical job-training, child care, and educational services, the FSS program empowers families to develop the skills and systems needed to set them on a pathway towards financial independence,” U.S. Senator Bob Menendez (D-NJ) said in a statement.
“Achieving and maintaining financial independence is a step towards helping families build better futures and pursue the American dream.”
Menendez and U.S. Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ) announced the awarding of $1,917,124 in federal funding to public housing authorities across the state to help families in federally-assisted housing achieve financial independence by increasing income and building savings.

“Ending veteran homelessness has been a top priority for the Trump Administration since day one,” HUD Secretary Ben Carson said in a statement.
“We have an obligation to ensure that our nation’s veterans, who have given so much for our country are not left out on the streets. They fought for us, now it’s time for us to fight for them.”
Specifically, the JCHA received $98,522 from the HUD-Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (HUD-VASH) Program.
In the HUD-VASH program, VA Medical Centers (VAMCs) assess veterans experiencing homelessness before referring them to local housing agencies for these vouchers.
