The college student knew she wasn’t going to make the light.
The 19-year-old freshman tried anyway, gunning the engine Nov. 17 to beat a traffic signal in front of the Mennen Sports Arena. A Morris County Park Police officer was right there waiting, watching from the arena’s parking lot in Morris Township.
He pulled her over and almost instantly said the car smelled like marijuana, according to the student, who did not wish to be identified because her case is still pending. The officer then searched the car.

The Jersey City mayor’s announcement that the police director will expand her role to take control of the Jersey City Police Department has drawn criticism from a former police chief.
Tuesday morning Steve Fulop announced that Tawana Moody would take over the operational duties of departing Police Chief Michael Kelly, saying she will “oversee all operational functions of the police department.”

January 13, 2021 – Thirty years ago, a lifelong Piscataway resident began his law enforcement career in his hometown as a patrol officer. Now three decades later, Thomas Mosier was sworn in as the full Chief of the Piscataway Township Police Department, one year after having been promoted from captain to acting chief.
