Beekeeping has long been a traditional pursuit in Uzbekistan and Ethiopia, where smallholders produce honey for sale and use in food and traditional drinks. As well as providing an ideal, low-capital, accessible, and business opportunity in urban and rural areas, bees also play a vital role in protecting farmstead biodiversity by pollinating crops and plants.
Beyond its vital role in protecting biodiversity, beekeeping provides an ideal, low-capital, accessible, and empowering micro-entrepreneurship opportunity in urban and rural areas – and an important tool to support the resilience of these communities during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Developing a digital literate society: IIPGH launches Digital Design and Creative Coding Hub

The Institute of ICT Professionals Ghana (IIPGH) with its partners Codie it!, and TinkerToys, from Leipzig, Germany on 3
rd May 2021 launched its Digital Design and Creative Coding Hub in Accra.
The event had a splendid setup, hosting about 35 children with their parents, and other invited guests. The launch was live on zoom and on Facebook, which saw over 300 participants connecting across the country and beyond.

The 2021 IDAHOT+ Forum will be organised on 18 May. The Forum is the major annual event organised at European level by the European Network of LGBTI Governmental Focal Points (EFPN) that is coordinated by the Council of Europe, to mark the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia and to strengthen European cooperation on SOGIESC Equality policies. It will bring together European policymakers, activists, civil society organisations to take collective action to advance the rights of LGBT people across Europe. This year’s Forum is being organised online and co-hosted by the UK and Cyprus.

Thank you for joining today’s discussion on the humanitarian situation in South Sudan.
I’m pleased to be joined by South Sudan’s Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, His Excellency Mr. Peter Mayen Majongdit and Ms. Sibylle Katharina Sorg, Director-General for Crisis Prevention, Stabilization, Post-Conflict Peacebuilding and Humanitarian Assistance at the German Federal Foreign Office.
We also have Gloria Ndong Morris, Head of the Titi Foundation. And two of my UN colleagues - firstly my good friend, Qu Dongyu, Director-General of the FAO, and Alain Noudehou, the Humanitarian Coordinator in South Sudan.
