UDS To Be Named After Late Rawlings - Prez Akufo-Addo

  The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has indicated that the University for Development Studies (UDS) will be named after former President Jerry John Rawlings. The former President who passed away in November 2020 after a short illness declined a proposal to name the university after him when he was alive. However, President Akufo-Addo while reading his tribute at the burial service insisted that the act is to immortalise the vibrant and energetic leader who played a significant role in the establishment of the institution. “Whilst he was with us, he, respectfully, declined an offer I made to him in 2017, to have the University of Development Studies (UDS), Tamale which he personally helped establish, named after him.
