By Lambert Strether of Corrente. Readers, I got wrapped around the axle on Biden’s horrid visit to a school room, so there will be more in politics and in health (lots of interesting developments) shortly. –lambert UPDATE Readers, I just couldn’t get to the health stuff. Tomorrow! Bird Song of the Day I just liked the name “Sociable Weaver.” More sociable weavers, please. #COVID19 At reader request, I’ve added this daily chart from 91-DIVOC. The data is the Johns Hopkins CSSE data. Here is the site. I feel I’m engaging in a macabre form of tape-watching.

Sen Susan Collins supports DC joining Maryland instead of DC statehood

Sen. Susan Collins supports DC joining Maryland instead of DC statehood CNN 2 hrs ago © Provided by CNN Sen. Susan Collins is the latest Republican with an alternative suggestion for Washington, DC s push for statehood: Join another state. There is a way to ensure that the residents of DC have voting representation in Congress, and that is for DC to become part of Maryland, just as parts of DC became parts of Virginia many years ago, the Maine Republican told Jake Tapper on State of the Union Sunday. That would give the residents of DC a new House member, and they would be represented in the Senate by Maryland senators, Collins said.

Collins Condemns GOP Attacks Against Cheney and Romney: I Was Appalled

Collins Condemns GOP Attacks Against Cheney and Romney: ‘I Was Appalled’ Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) on Sunday defended fellow Republicans Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah) and Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyoming) against intraparty attacks driven by the duo’s push to impeach former President Donald Trump, who continues to command unwavering loyalty among much of the GOP. Collins, who, like Romney, voted “yes” on a Senate motion in February to convict Trump on the charge of “incitement to insurrection,” complained to CNN’s Jake Tapper on “State of the Union” that her fellow Republicans booed Romney at the Utah GOP state organizing convention.

Tapper to Anita Dunn: Hey, why is Biden still wearing a mask outdoors?

AP Photo/Patrick Semansky Anita Dunn, a senior adviser to Joe Biden, was interviewed by CNN’s Jake Tapper Sunday morning. On State of the Union, it was painfully clear that she is out of practice in doing cable news Sunday morning shows. The interview was a hot mess, to put it bluntly. Dunn looked to be ill-prepared to answer some really basic questions, questions she surely should have known would arise. She’s no political neophyte, she was acting White House Communications Director from April through November 2009 in the Obama administration. Communication is supposed to be her area of expertise. Perhaps it is their shared references to Chinese communist dictator Mao Zedong that brings her into Biden’s inner circle in the White House. Her job is to make Biden appear to be in control and competently leading the free world. It’s a big task.

Cindy McCain calls probes into election ludicrous after Trump claims Arizona will overturn results

Cindy McCain said Sunday that the continued efforts to overturn Arizona s presidential election results are ludicrous   The election is over, McCain told CNN . Biden won. I know many of them don t like the outcome. But, you know, elections have consequences The widow of late Senator John McCain could be the first Republican to join Biden s administration as U.S. ambassador to the UN World Food Program Her comments came after Trump said during a Thursday rant at Mar-a-Lago that Arizona could be the first state to overturn the rigged election results     He said that he only lost to Joe Biden because of widespread election fraud
