Rossies lift Connacht U20FC title at MacHale Park

Adam McDermott and James Fitzpatrick bagged second-half goals as Roscommon were crowned Connacht U20 football champions at MacHale Park this evening.
They will also be thankful to goalkeeper Conor Carroll for a crucial second-half penalty save as they ran out impressive 2-11 to 1-7 winners over Mayo to claim a first provincial title in the grade since 2015.
Mayo started the brightest, racing into a 0-3 to 0-0 lead by the first water-break, before Fitzpatrick eventually opened Roscommon s account.
The Rossies then grabbed the initiative by scoring four more unanswered points, as Mayo went 22 minutes without scoring until Jack Carney stroked over his second in injury-time to narrow the gap to one at half-time, 0-5 to 0-4.

Roscommon down Leitrim to progress to Connacht U20FC semi-final

Four goals - two either side of half-time - helped Roscommon U20 footballers to a comfortable 4-16 to 0-10 victory over Leitrim at a wet Dr Hyde Park this evening.
Leitrim were well in the contest at 0-10 to 0-6 as half-time approached before being floored by injury-time goals from Adam McDermott and Ben O’Carroll, who combined for 2-5.
The Rossies picked up where they left off and blitzed the visitors with another two goal salvo, with Darragh Heneghan and James Fitzpatrick hitting the net in a matter of minutes.
