A further 122 new coronavirus cases have been confirmed on Teesside. The latest figures released by Public Health England show the rate of new infections has more than halved compared with Monday s data.

Nine covid-19 patients have died at the University Hospital of North Tees in Stockton, the NHS has announced.
Four of the deaths occurred on Monday and four on Sunday, with another recorded last Thursday.

TWO Teesside MPs have defended their call for the region to be moved onto a lower rung of Covid restrictions after criticism from a senior councillor. Conservative Tees Valley MPs have called on the Government to push Teesside into a lower level of covid restrictions in a bid to help bars and restaurants open once again. But Redcar and Cleveland councillor Steve Kay accused MPs of “playing to the gallery” at a health meeting on yesterday (Monday). Councillors were told how rates of Covid in Redcar and Cleveland had flattened – but were beginning to rise once again in Middlesbrough.
Another 251 confirmed cases of coronavirus and two deaths recorded on Teesside
So far 23,674 people on Teesside have now tested positive for Covid-19 since the start of the pandemic
