Billy Graham saw the need for evangelicals to unite towards the task of world-wide evangelization. This desire and dream led to the First International World Congress on World Evangelization in Lausanne Switzerland in July 1974 and the birth of the Lausanne Movement. Since 1974, there have been two other World Congresses that have met Manilla, Philippines in 1989 and Cape Town, South Africa in 2010. That’s really true, and that, besides my innate loyalty to friends, is why I ball up my internal fist whenever I hear people criticize him harshly. And it’s why I’m not going to publish any comments on this blog that criticize him personally (as distinct from criticizing his ideas). But I also recognize that David is dispositionally and convictionally more liberal than I am, and far more optimist about the way of the world. This is a preface to say that his column today is halfway about me and people like me.

The muscle of the movement was evident as early as 2015 in Indiana and 2016 in North Carolina, when corporate opposition forced Republicans to back off anti-gay and anti-transgender legislation. Much to the dismay of the right a recent Fox News headline read “Corporations fear woke left minority more than silent majority” the movement has been gaining momentum, obscuring classic partisan allegiances in corporate America. This drive has a fast-growing list of backers from the ranks of the Fortune 500, prepared to challenge Republican legislators across the nation.

American Culture Has Fundamentally Changed Over The Past Several Decades – Investment Watch

For as long as I have been alive, there has been an epic struggle for control over America’s values.  It has been referred to as “the culture war”, and it is often framed in political terms, but the truth is that it runs much deeper than that.  Literally every moment of every day, forces on both sides are engaged in a relentless battle for your mind.  Virtually everything you watch on television, listen to on the radio and look at on the Internet is designed to shape how you view the world.  Our education system, our largest corporations and politicians in both major parties are also used as tools in the culture war.  Both sides would like to achieve victory, but as you will see below, only one side has been making significant progress.
