United shock Lacock to reach Knockout Cup Final AFC Melksham and FC Devizes United will contest this season’s A M Print & Copy sponsored Knockout Cup Final following semi-final victories over respective opponents Pack Horse FC and FC Lacock. Dave Jenkins, who is in his first season as Melksham manager, will be happy to have avoided a potential banana skin after booking their place in next Sunday’s final with a nail-biting 3-2 triumph over Gary Williamson’s Pack Horse outfit. Cup favourites, Melksham, who suffered a 2-0 loss to Box Rovers in the 2019 final, looked to be coasting to victory as they went 2-0 up in the opening 15 minutes as Joe Maloney gave them the lead on 9 minutes and Jordan Kick doubled the advantage 5 minutes later.

Voters OK fire/EMS expansion planning - Mount Desert Islander

 Voters at Town Meeting Tuesday evening authorized spending up to $357,500 for engineering and design services for a proposed expansion of the fire station in Northeast Harbor to house fire and EMS personnel and equipment. The vote was 46-18.

Fire/EMS facility, budgets, climate action go to voters MOUNT DESERT  Voters at the May 4 Town Meeting will be asked to approve spending up to $357,500 for engineering and other services related to designing the proposed addition to the Northeast Harbor fire station, which would house fire and EMS personnel and equipment.  The “drive in” Town Meeting will be held in the front parking lot at Mount Desert Island High School starting at 6 p.m.  If voters approve the fire/EMS funding, Hedefine Engineering & Design would be paid $305,000 for design, bidding and permitting services. Civil engineering firm Haley Ward would receive $25,000 for IT services; telecommunications provider Brown’s Communications would be paid $2,500; and there would be $25,000 to cover contingencies.

CHIPPENHAM SUNDAY LEAGUE: Group stage of both cups blown wide open ANOTHER weekend of cup fixtures in the shoestrings-chargrill Chippenham Sunday League conjured up a few surprises, which have thrown the group stages of the WG Parr Trophy and Subsidiary Cup wide open. Both FC Devizes United and Pack Horse went into their A M Print & Copy sponsored Knockout Cup, Group A clash on the back of impressive victories in their opening quarter-final ties last weekend. A 4-0 victory for Devizes has put them in pole position to top the group, and despite their loss Pack Horse are likely to join them if they avoid defeat against Sporting Box next weekend.
