A conceptual drawing of what the Riverwalk Community Skatepark may look like once constructed. The Jamestown Planning Commission approved the site plan Tuesday.
If all goes to plan, the new Riverwalk Community Skatepark will see its first ollie in August.
The Jamestown Planning Commission this week approved the site plan for the skatepark that will be constructed on the banks of the Chadakoin River near McCrea Point Park.
Prior to site plan approval, the commission heard from Micah Shapiro, Grindline CEO/designer, who showed conceptual drawings of the proposed park. He said the construction of the park will use some existing foundations from the former Jamestown Trolley Building and steel from a former Jamestown Board of Public Utilities coal bridge.

The Jamestown City Council has a new Ward 3 representative.
On Monday, the council approved Regina Brackman to be the new councilwoman for Ward 3, filling the vacancy left by the unexpected death of Vickye James last month. The council approved Brackman during a special meeting Monday.
Last week, Jamestown Mayor Eddie Sundquist announced that Brackman was his nominee to fill the vacancy. Sundquist said Brackman has been involved in the community as a lifelong resident, a member of the Jamestown Planning Commission, as a board member of the YWCA and on the Jamestown Juneteenth Planning Committee.

If the council approves the mayorâs nomination, Brackman will be filling the vacancy left on the council after the death of the late Councilwoman Vickye James last month.

It’s quite possible if the late Councilwoman Vickye James could have picked her replacement on the Jamestown City Council that it might be the same person Jamestown Mayor Eddie Sundquist selected.
Several meetings are scheduled. ×
