Submitted photo House Bill 1425 unanimously passed the North Dakota Senate on Monday, March 29, and is expected to be signed by the governor, opening up the North Dakota Legacy Fund to invest more money in the state, according to Jon Godfread, North Dakota insurance commissioner and one of the leaders of the effort to pass the bill.

Written By: Keith Norman | × The North Dakota Senate Finance and Taxation Committee heard testimony Wednesday on a bill to require more investment of the North Dakota Legacy Fund in the state. The committee took no action at the end of the session. House Bill 1425 passed the North Dakota House of Representatives on an 85 to 8 vote on Feb. 24. Now the process of hearings and votes is repeated before the North Dakota Senate.

Jamestown leaders monitor bills at legislative crossover

Jamestown area leaders are monitoring several bills in the North Dakota Legislature. Written By: Keith Norman | × Local officials are monitoring several bills in the North Dakota Legislature at crossover. Crossover occurs about halfway through the session and marks the point where each house must have acted on bills that originated in its house. The bills then cross over to the other house for consideration. Jamestown Mayor Dwaine Heinrich said he was monitoring some of the bonding bills where the state would issue bonds for infrastructure but was also paying close attention to House Bill 1425. The bill uses a portion of the Legacy Fund to invest in North Dakota, he said. It is of major interest in the state and received overwhelming support in the House.
