Suspended African National Congress (ANC) Secretary-General Ace Magashule has called for his court bid against the ANC to be heard on an urgent basis citing fears of intra-party violence if thereâs a delay.
In court papers filed to the Johannesburg High Court, and seen by Eyewitness News, President Cyril Ramaphosa and ANC Deputy Secretary-General Jesse Duarte have also been cited as respondents in addition to the governing party.
Magashule wants the court to enforce a suspension letter he issued to the governing partyâs president.
The corruption-accused former Free State premier wants his suspension to be declared unlawful and return to Luthuli House to manage the affairs of the ANC.

The secretary general of South Africa s ruling African National Congress (ANC), Ace Magashule, who has been suspended over corruption charges, has filed a suit against party leader and head of state Cyril Ramaphosa, legal papers showed Friday.
Magashule, facing fraud charges related to a multi-million-dollar housing project, is the first top official to be temporarily forced out under a new crackdown on graft.
In papers filed on Friday, he asked the Johannesburg High Court to scrap the ANC s decision to remove him as the party s head of administration.
Magashule claims the step-aside list was manipulated by the ANC s national leadership.
He has accused the NEC of targeting him politically.
The ANC s national chairperson, Gwede Mantashe, has opted not to publicly react to suspended Secretary-General Ace Magashule s decision to haul the party to court over his suspension, telling News24 the matter will be dealt with legally.
Magashule in his court papers, served on the ANC on Thursday night, claimed that Mantashe, alongside fellow national executive committee member Zizi Kodwa, received nothing but a slap on the wrist from the party and weren t asked to step aside, even though they faced serious corruption charges.

JOHANNESBURG – Suspended African National Congress (ANC) secretary general Ace Magashule has launched legal action against the governing party as well as its president Cyril Ramaphosa and deputy secretary general Jessie Duarte.
Magashule was suspended by his party last week for failing to step aside after he was given 30 days as per the ANC s resolution.

A witness in the trial of seven Chinese nationals facing human trafficking and child labour charges has detailed horrific working conditions and human right violations endured by workers in a Johannesburg factory.
In a statement on Monday, Malawi national Fraser Aufi, in the Johannesburg High Court testified that, at the factory, he and his fellow nationals were subjected to long working hours, debt bondage, hazardous working conditions, insults, assaults and violation of basic human rights by the accused.
Aufi, said the department, testified that his dream of becoming an entrepreneur was shattered the day he set his foot at Beautiful City Pty Ltd, the company that employed them.
