Blue lights tender fraud case postponed again

Getty Images The so-called blue lights tender fraud case involving former police officers and a businessman has been postponed to 30 June. The accused appeared in the Johannesburg Specialised Commercial Crimes Court on Friday. They face 392 charges, including fraud, corruption, theft and money laundering. The Specialised Commercial Crimes Court sitting in the Palm Ridge Magistrate s Court has granted a further two-month postponement in the case against former senior police officers and a businessman allegedly involved in the fraudulent multimillion-rand blue lights tender. The accused made a brief appearance in court on Friday and the case was postponed to 30 June, allowing the accused time to familiarise themselves with the contents of the dockets.

Angelo Agrizzi a no-show in court, case postponed to May

Former Bosasa COO Angelo Agrizzi failed to appear  alongside his co-accused former ANC MP Vincent Smith in the Johannesburg Specialised Commercial Crimes Court on Tuesday. Agrizzi s lawyer furnished the court with a medical certificate. Agrizzi and Smith are charged with corruption, while Smith faces additional charges of fraud for alleged payments made to his company, Euroblitz, in 2015 and 2016. Former Bosasa COO-turned-whistleblower Angelo Agrizzi has again failed to appear in the Specialised Commercial Crimes Court sitting in the Palm Ridge Magistrate s Court in Gauteng due to illness. Agrizzi was supposed to appear alongside his co-accused, former ANC MP Vincent Smith, on Tuesday.

Second arrest made in Cell C R130m tender scam

The Hawks have arrested a second IT executive in connection with a R130 million tender scam. Adriraan Pillay, 39, was arrested in Germiston, Gauteng on Friday and appeared in the Palm Ridge Specialised Commercial Crimes Court on Monday. Pillay and co-accused, former Cell C executive Mohamed Ismail Adamjee, allegedly inflated the invoices of service providers, resulting in losses to the tune of R130 million for Cell C. Adamjee, 44, was an IT manager at one of Cell C s service providers and is alleged to have committed the crimes between 2012 and 2019 with a director of one of the mobile network operator s service providers.

Blue-lights brigade tender fraud: Court to rule on application to strike matter off the roll

Getty Images The Johannesburg Specialised Commercial Crimes Court will rule on Thursday on whether the blue-lights tender fraud matter should be struck off the roll.  The accused appeared before the Commercial Crimes Court sitting in the Palm Ridge Magistrate s Court on Wednesday. They face charges, which include fraud, corruption, theft and money laundering related to a R191 million tender to fit 1 500 police vehicles with blue lights. The Specialised Commercial Crimes Court, sitting in the Palm Ridge Magistrate s Court, will on Thursday rule whether the case against former senior officers and a businessman allegedly linked to the SAPS fraudulent multimillion-rand blue light tender should be struck off the roll.
