Booze bust in Joburg: Police allegedly offered R40K bribe after seizing R100K worth of alcohol

R100 000 worth of alcohol was seized at a liquor outlet in Johannesburg. The manager of the outlet s son was charged with bribery after he allegedly tried to pay police R40 000. Four people were charged with being in contravention of the Disaster Management Act by selling, dispensing and transporting liquor. A Johannesburg man has been arrested and R100 000 worth of alcohol seized after he allegedly offered police a R40 000 bribe. He was allegedly caught selling alcohol.  On Sunday, Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) spokesperson Xolani Fihla said the incident happened on Friday when undercover JMPD members stopped two suspicious vehicles in the inner city.

Law enforcement to patrol Joburg in numbers to ensure lockdown compliance, warns Makhubo

Makhubo said that JPMD officers would be on the streets from 21:00 and had been instructed to implement a zero-tolerance approach in dealing with those who are not complying with the restrictions.
