Joseph Ayo Babalola University, Ikeji Arakeji, Osun State, has honoured the lawmaker representing Akoko North East/North West Federal Constituency, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo with an honorary doctorate.
The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Kola Sonaike, in a statement on Monday, said the institution decided to honour the lawmaker and two others with honorary doctorate degrees in recognition of their commitment to nation-building.
The federal Lawmaker who bagged an honorary doctorate in Public Administration was among the three eminent Nigerians honoured at the 11th convocation ceremony of the university held on Friday.
A former Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshall Oluseyi Petinrin(retd.) and the Managing Director of First Registrars, Mr Bayo Olugbemi, were the two other recipients of the honorary doctorate degrees.
Former Minister of External Affairs and Director General, Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (NIIA), Prof. Bolaji Akinyemi, has described the COVID-19 pandemic as a blessing to Nigeria as well as other medium and low income countries.
Ikeji-Arakeji (Osun), Jan. 18, 2021 No fewer than 21 students bagged First Class honours, as the Joseph Ayo Babalola University (JABU), Ikeji-Arakeji Osun State, graduates 430 students from its seven colleges and various academic programmes.
Prof. Kola Sonaike, the Vice Chancellor, stated this on Monday at a press conference, ahead of the institution’s 11th convocation scheduled for Friday.
Sonaike noted that 395 students would receive first degree certificates, comprising 21 First Class honours, 181 Second Class Upper, 157 Second Class Lower and 36 Third Class, respectively.
He added that four students would be honoured with postgraduate diplomas, while 31 others would receive Masters Degrees.
“For first degrees , 83 of the graduating students come from the College of Agriculture and Natural Sciences , 24 from the College of Environmental Sciences, 95 from the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, 70 from the College of Law and 123 from the College of Management Science

The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Kola Sonaike, disclosed this on Monday, while speaking on the forthcoming convocation of the school.
Giving the breakdown, the VC said a total of 395 students would be awarded first degree certificates which comprised 21 first-class honours, 181 second-class (upper division), 157 second-class (lower division) and 36 third-class.
Sonaike added that four students would bag postgraduate diplomas, while 31 others would receive masters’ degrees.
