Rochester Hills-based Elite Detection K9 (EDK9) is now offering employees at two Pontiac hospitals a chance to bring a puppy home for the weekend.
The Puppy Furlough Program kicked off last week at St. Joseph Mercy Oakland Hospital and McLaren Oakland Hospital. The organization raises and trains scent-detection dogs to be utilized in law enforcement.
âWe created the Puppy Furlough Program to enable hospital first responders to take a puppy home for the weekend to play with, experience some puppy love and, hopefully, help reduce some of the constant stress of caring for patients during the pandemic,â Greg Guidice, president and CEO of EDK9, said. âThe pups are energetic, high-drive Labrador Retrievers between the ages of three and seven months.â
