A pedestrian who was hit by a vehicle and killed early Tuesday morning has been identified.
Juante M. Barry, 33, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the St. Joseph County Fatal Crash Team. The man s identity had been previously held pending family notification.
An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday.
Emergency crews were dispatched around 3 a.m. in the area on Indiana 23 near 27th Street in Clay Township. Investigators say a grey Chevy Cruz was heading southwest on Indiana 23 when they struck a pedestrian. The pedestrian was reportedly walking in the unlit street and was wearing dark clothing.
The driver, Israel Becerra Davila, age 44, of Mishawaka, stayed on scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
