A MAN driving his mates for a night out crashed on a bend after overtaking another car.
Blackburn magistrates heard one of the passengers was seriously injured but when police arrived the driver, Jordan Smith, had left the scene. Smith, 36, of Essex Street, Colne, pleaded guilty to failing to stop after an accident, driving without due care and attention and producing cannabis. He was made subject to a community order for 12 months with 150 hours unpaid work. He was fined £307 with £95 victim surcharge and £85 costs and his licence endorsed with 10 penalty points. Eileen Rogers, prosecuting, said Smith was driving his girlfriend s car with a friend, Joseph Kelly, in the front passenger seat when they went to pick up Scott Hargreaves.
