BOISE, Idaho A group of Boise residents gathered in front of the old Salvation Army building on State Street Friday to protest the possibility of the Interfaith Sanctuary Homeless Shelter buying and refurbishing the property into a new shelter.
Shelter director Jodi Peterson-Stigers hosted several virtual meetings to address concerns from residents but has still faced pushback.

IDAHO â Family Medicine Health Center is going mobile to distribute the COVID-19 vaccine to people experiencing homelessness.
Penny Beach MD, Chief Medical Officer with Family Medicine said over the last year theyâve been able to provide COVID-19 tests to the homeless community and if an unhoused individual tested positive for the virus the person would temporarily be put up in a hotel to prevent spread, but the goal is to avoid infection entirely.
Interfaith Sanctuary to postpone submitting application for new property

BOISE, Idaho The Interfaith Sanctuary Shelter will hold off on submitting its application for a new shelter location on State Street to the city of Boise, according to an email.
The application will not be sent in until an in-person open house is held for those located within 300 feet of the new site.
Shelter director Jodi Peterson-Stigers initially planned to submit an application for the property, the old Salvation Army site on State Street, to the city on Feb. 23. Closing was expected to be completed by the end of March 2021.
