BATANG MAYNILA
With the vaccines for COVID-19 already available and in fact being rolled out in some countries, we in the city government are inviting all the residents of Manila to register for the free vaccination we intend to implement once the vaccines reach us.
Since we launched the registration about a week ago via www.manilacovid19vaccine.com and invited the citizens of Manila to register, more than 55,000 have already heeded our call as of this writing.
Through an ordinance earlier passed by the Manila City Council headed by Vice Mayor and Presiding Officer Honey Lacuna and Majority floorleader Joel Chua, we were able to allot initially P200 million which we now raised to P250 million, for the purchase of the vaccines. This would be on top of the vaccine allotment by the national government for the city of Manila and modesty aside, we are ready to increase the allocation to up to P1 billion if opportunity allows.

Looking back on the year that was, it can be surmised that if there is anything good that the pandemic was able to do, it was to bring out the best in all of us and I can particulary say so in the case of the city officials, employees, and residents of Manila.
In the case of my beloved Manilans, they were and still are able to prove that they can follow rules to the letter and make the necessary sacrifices, if doing so would benefit the country as a whole. This came to the fore in the case of lockdowns and following mandated health protocols and they do make me proud.
First and foremost, Happy Holidays everyone, specially to all my beloved “Batang Maynila”!!!
I do hope that all of you, our dear readers, had a safe, meaningful, and joyous Christmas celebration despite the pandemic.
As another year draws to a close, I look back with much gratitude first of all, to our dear God, for all the blessings and guidance He so graciously showered us during the past year.
My deepest gratitude also goes to all those who made my first year and a half in office very fruitful, productive, and filled with so much accomplishments that even I did not imagine could be achieved in so short a time and amid an emergency health situation at that.
