A Palmview High School seniors received 17 college acceptance letters, including seven from Ivy League schools.
Palmview High School senior Xavier Piña said he couldn t believe all of the acceptance letters he received. However, his dedication to learning started long before setting foot inside a classroom.
His parents, Norma and Sergio Piña said their son knew how to read, write, and basic math before entering Pre-K.

School districts in the Valley have announced changes to the school week for students and staff due to severe winter weather. Many school districts either went virtual or canceled classes altogether on Monday. Some school districts have announced they will go virtual on Tuesday, as well. Hidalgo County and La Joya Independent School District administered 1,000 COVID-19 vaccines on Wednesday but some residents are concerned others may have received an earlier notice about the vaccination clinic.
Less than one hour after Tuesday s COVID-19 vaccination clinic in La Joya was announced, a second announcement was made stating that the clinic was at capacity. This message prompted concerns and frustration among residents. A friend called me and I came out right away, Hidalgo County resident Norma Hinojosa said.

Hidalgo County health officials and the La Joya Independent School District have partnered up to host a second COVID-19 community vaccine clinic on Thursday.
Covid-19 vaccinations will be administered at the Juarez Lincoln High School located at 7801 West Mile 7 Road in Mission, starting at 8 a.m.
1,000 coronavirus vaccines will be distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis to healthcare workers, people over the age of 65 and those with certain medical conditions.
