The Springfield-Greene County Health Department, along with the Office of Emergency Management have submitted a request to the state department of health for a COVID-19 Alternative Care Site.
The request in coordination with CoxHealth, Mercy, and Jordan Valley Community Health Center is in response to rising COVID-19 cases in the area.
More than 60 patients are on ventilators according to the latest numbers and the increase is projected to outpace hospital capacity.
