26-year-old man commits suicide in Jos

Share Tragedy struck at Dilimi area of Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State, on Sunday, when a 26-year-old man Sarki Abdul, committed suicide by gulping a bottle of chemical substance. A source close to the family of the deceased told Tribune Online that the young man borrowed a sum of N300,000 from his friend to do a business with a promise to pay the money back in three weeks time. It was learnt that in the process of the business the man ran into a problem and could not pay back the money as promised but refused to tell his childhood friend who borrowed him the money his predicaments.

Tricycle rider sets self ablaze in Plateau

Punch Newspapers Sections James Abraham, Jos  A middle-aged man on Thursday set himself ablaze in the Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau state. PUNCH Metro gathered that the incident occurred around 8.30am at the Garden of Forgiveness, opposite Our Lady of Apostle Hospital in Jos. A witness, Phillip Gyang, said the victim, identified as a tricycle rider, entered the garden and poured petrol on himself before setting himself on fire. “It is really strange and I don’t know the reason he did that,” he added. Another witness, Ruth, whose shop was close to the garden, said the man parked his tricycle by the roadside before taking his life.

Daily Trust - Man sets self on fire in Jos

Misbahu Usman, a commercial motorcycle rider who witnessed the incident, told Daily Trust that the victim arrived in Peace and Reconciliation Garden, in Jos as early as 7:30 and poured petrol on himself before setting himself ablaze. He narrated that: “There were no many people around during the incident and before we realized what was going on, the fire had already dominated the body and there was no water to put off the fire. “The available sachet water around was not enough to put off the fire.” The eyewitness added that the relatives of the victim, including his parents, arrived at the scene of the incident crying.
