LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - Marilyn Cleveland teared up when she saw the photos of her donated wedding dresses turned into burial gowns for preemies who are stillborn.
“The gowns were lovely and so tiny. Seeing those pictures was most emotional for two reasons,” said Cleveland, a retired speech pathologist in Shelbyville. “I knew some more good was going to come out of those dresses and I thought about grieving families that now were going to have something pretty to bury their child in.”

Jan. 7 State leaders have recently criticized slow vaccine rollout in Kentucky, but Fayette County officials maintain that they re getting the shots into people s arms as quickly as possible.
Even so, Lexington may fall behind other counties across the state in trying to get through the initial stage because Fayette County has over 20,000 health care workers, according to the Lexington-Fayette County Health Department. That s over 6 percent of the local population. We re still very early in Phase 1A in Lexington because of the vast number of people who qualify as 1A, health department spokesman Kevin Hall said. The number of health care workers in Lexington is larger than the population of several Kentucky counties.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) â For the Rushing family, 2021 got off on the right foot. Their daughter, Callie Jay Rushing, was born at 12:09 a.m. on New Year s Day. Pretty exciting! mother Britani Rushing said. Yeah, we re pretty happy with it, father Chase Rushing said. We weren t expecting it but she came when she was ready.
Callie was originally due on January 10, but she came early. You could say she rushed it. She carries the name well, Britani joked.
Callie s 5-year-old sister, Shalyn, had to stay at home due to COVID-19 restrictions, but she was determined to meet her new family member, no matter how long she had to stay up on New Year s Eve.

KENTUCKY (KFVS) - Baptist Health announced its hospitals throughout Kentucky have achieved a milestone in administering COVID-19 vaccines.
As of Tuesday, December 29, the Baptist Heath system has administered more than 11,000 COVID-19 vaccines to frontline healthcare workers including nurses, housekeepers, physicians, respiratory therapists and phlebotomists.
Baptist Health Corbin, Baptist Health Lexington, Baptist Health Louisville, Baptist Health Madisonville and Baptist Health Floyd in Indiana received the first Pfizer COVID-19 vaccinations approved for emergency use by the FDA.
