THE Chairman of Isuikwuato Local Government Area, Chima Agbaeze, has cried out over the siege on his LGA by kidnappers and other criminals.
Agbaeze expressed concern “over the recent kidnapping on all the adjoining roads leading to the local government”, adding that “this unwholesome act of kidnapping and other forms of criminality preceded my administration and has persisted till this period, which has generated fear and anxiety on Ndi Isuikwuato LGA in particular and other road users at large.”
He further said, “Just yesterday, the 28th of January, 2021, the ugly news of the kidnap of a man travelling with some members of his family along Akoli to Isuikwuato road, which led to his murder rented both social, print, and electronic media, and this is highly regrettable.

The Eastern Regional Working Committee of the Nigeria Union of Teachers, on Thursday, called on the Abia State Government to quickly address the issues that led to the teachers’ strike to save public education in the state from collapse.
The union stormed Abia State to solidarise with teachers in the state who had embarked on an indefinite strike about two weeks ago.
The Eastern Regional Chairman of NUT, Comrade Etim Ukpong, decried the plight of teachers in the state following months of unpaid wages.
Although he acknowledged the efforts of the Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu-led administration towards addressing the issues, he demanded the clearance of the 12-month salary arrears as a condition to call off the strike.

Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, has dismissed speculations that he was plotting to dump the Peoples Democratic Party.
Ikpeazu made his position on the issue known during a PDP stakeholder meeting and inauguration of newly elected council chairmen and deputies, in Umuahia, late on Sunday.
Ikpeazu said, “As the leader in Abia State today, I don’t speak for myself alone, I belong to a political family.
“I think Abia State is comfortable in PDP. Therefore, I do not think that conversation is proper before us and tenable at this moment.”

THE Governor of Abia State, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, says Ohanaeze Ndigbo remains the strongest voice of the Igbo people in national affairs.
The organisation, he said, must continue to have credible leadership for it to enjoy the support of well meaning sons and daughters of Igboland.
Ikpeazu stated this on Wednesday at the Governor’s Lodge in Aba while receiving in audience a delegation of eminent Igbo sons, who came to present to him Prof. George Obiozor as the candidate for the next President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo.
The governor described Obiozor as an intellectual of global repute, stating that at this stage of the development of Ndigbo in Nigeria, it will be difficult to find a better candidate for the position than the eminent professor.
