There’s an increase in provincial COVID-19 numbers today.
The province recorded 3,871 new cases, up from the 3,480 cases announced on Wednesday.
The provincial death toll now stands at 8,029.
Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health announced 53 infections across the region.
11 of those cases are in Dufferin County.

3,480 new COVID-19 infections were announced in Ontario today.
The news comes as the province will begin moving chronically ill hospital patients out of hospitals and into long term care homes without their consent to free up space for increase COVID hospitalizations.
Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health recorded 39 new cases across the region today.
Seven of those cases are in Dufferin County.

“This is a step forward in Phase Two of our vaccine distribution plan to ensure we are protecting people and communities most at risk,” said Christine Elliott, Deputy Premier and Minister of Health. “By using every available channel to deliver vaccines, we are working to vaccinate Ontarians as quickly as possible and stop the spread in our communities. I encourage everyone who is eligible to book their appointment as soon as they can.”
Despite facing consistent challenges in receiving a stable and reliable supply of COVID-19 vaccines, Ontario has continued to ramp up capacity and expand its rollout to additional groups.

Ontario is reporting 3,265 cases of COVID-19 today.
The seven-day rolling average of new cases now stands at 3,888, down from 4,023 on Monday.
Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health is reporting 12 new infections across the region.
