Two teens injured in ATV collision | Orangeville Citizen

May 20, 2021   ·   0 Comments The Dufferin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is currently investigating a collision involving two All-Terrain Vehicles (ATV) on private property that resulted in serious injuries for one of the riders.  On May 17, 2021, at approximately 5:06 p.m., officers responded to a report of a head-on collision involving two ATVs on private property in the area of County Road 109 and Willoughby Road in Orangeville. The collision involved two 16-year-old drivers who were transported to a local hospital with injuries. One driver was later transported by Ornge Air Ambulance to a Toronto-area trauma centre with serious injuries. The OPP Traffic Collision Investigation (TCI) team was brought in to investigate. The investigation is continuing and anyone who may have witnessed the collision is asked to contact the Dufferin OPP at 1-888-310-1122.

Amaranth man charged with stunt driving in Mono | Orangeville Citizen

April 22, 2021   ·   0 Comments On April 18, 2021, at approximately 4:16 p.m., an officer from the Dufferin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charged a driver for stunt driving on Highway 10 in the Town of Mono. The officer was conducting enforcement in the area of Highway 10 and Buena Vista Drive when he observed two vehicles stopped at the lights. One vehicle took off from the light at a high rate of acceleration in an attempt to race the other vehicle.  As a result of the investigation, the driver, a 63-year-old from Amaranth, was changed with: Stunt Driving – Race Motor Vehicle.  The driver is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville to answer to the charge. Their driver’s licence was suspended and the vehicle impounded for a period of seven days.

Dufferin OPP lay charges after theft of high end perfume from local Shoppers Drug Mart

April 22, 2021   ·   0 Comments The Dufferin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged two suspects as a result of a theft investigation at a Shoppers Drug Mart in the Town of Orangeville. On April 16, 2021, at approximately 8:06 a.m., Dufferin OPP responded to a shoplifting incident at Shoppers Drug Mart. Police received information that a theft of a large quantity of high-end perfume had just occurred and the two suspects had fled the scene.   Officers located and arrested two people in connection with the theft, and recovered approximately $4,980 in stolen merchandise.  As a result, Scott LAWSON, 33 years of age, of Etobicoke, has been charged with

Traffic complaint helps take impaired driver off the road | Orangeville Citizen

April 15, 2021   ·   0 Comments The Dufferin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is thanking a concerned citizen for calling in an unsafe driver, which led to an impaired driving charge in the Town of Orangeville.  On April 11, 2021, at approximately 9:49 p.m., an officer responded to a traffic complaint. The officer located the vehicle in the area of County Road 109 and County Road 3 in Orangeville, initiated a traffic stop and commenced an impaired driving investigation.  The driver provided a breath sample into an Approved Screening Device (ASD), which resulted in a “fail” reading. The driver was placed under arrest for Operation while Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration over 80 mg, and transported to the Dufferin OPP Detachment for further testing.
