The South Dakota Department of Health has released an online Q&A tool so state residents can easily figure out if they re eligible to get vaccinated for COVID-19 under the state s vaccination plan, the department announced Wednesday, Feb. 3.

MITCHELL, S.D. Active COVID-19 cases in South Dakota fell for the fifth consecutive day, while hospitalizations dropped for the fourth straight day.
The South Dakota Department of Health on Thursday, Jan. 21, reported 4,089 active cases, more than half of the number of cases on Dec. 21 (8,373) and more than four times fewer than the 16,867 active cases reported on Nov. 21. The number of people currently hospitalized sits at 185, while six new deaths were reported to bring the all-time total to 1,673.
The DOH reported 337 new cases out of 1,172 new tests, resulting in a positivity rate of 28.8%. It is the fifth consecutive day the state has recorded a positivity rate lower than 30% on new tests, which has not occurred since a seven-day stretch from Oct. 3 to 9.
Medical professionals have widely credited the state's mask mandate with reducing the spread of COVID-19 in the state. Burgum did not immediately explain why the state would abandon the measure.

North Dakota health officials are monitoring for a new strain of COVID-19 that was confirmed in Colorado and California in the last few days and which experts say may be more contagious than the viral strains that have driven the pandemic so far.
The Department of Health is not aware of any cases of this new strain in North Dakota at this point, but state lab director Dr. Christie Massen said health officials are implementing measures to better screen for its presence.
North Dakota COVID-19 cases drop by 145, four deaths reported

BISMARCK, N.D. (KVRR) – The North Dakota Department of Health on Monday reported four additional deaths from COVID-19.
There are currently 1,878 active cases in the state, a decrease of 145 since Sunday. 108 people are hospitalized.
Cass County reported the largest number of new cases with 23.
