A Summerset man has been identified as the person who died early Monday morning in a motorcycle-vehicle crash that occurred in Rapid City.
Preliminary crash information from the South Dakota Highway Patrol indicates that a 2011 Honda VT1300 motorcycle was westbound on Interstate 90 when the driver failed to negotiate a left turn. The driver lost control and was thrown from the motorcycle onto the interstate. A westbound 2011 Volvo D13 semi-truck and trailer could not stop in time and struck the motorcycle driver.
Jeremy Nye, the 31-year-old motorcycle driver, was not wearing a helmet and was pronounced dead at the scene. The two occupants of the semi-truck were not injured.

A Rapid City woman has been identified as the person died Saturday night in a vehicle-pedestrian crash near Colman.
Preliminary crash information indicates a 2011 GMC Yukon was southbound in the driving lane of Interstate 29 when it struck Hevin Mathis, 34, who was walking in the driving lane. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Both male occupants of the car, the 29-year-old driver and the one-year-old passenger, were not injured. Both were wearing seat belts.
South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. All information released so far is only preliminary.

Both westbound lanes of Interstate 90 from mile marker 59 to mile marker 60 were closed for about five hours.

According to the South Dakota Department of Public Safety, a 2011 GMC Yukon was southbound in the driving lane of Interstate 29 when it struck a 34-year-old female who was walking in the driving lane. The pedestrain was pronounced dead at the scene. Both male occupants of the vehicle, the 29-year-old driver and the one-year-old passenger, were not injured. Both were wearing seat belts.
Names of the people involved are not yet being released pending notification to family members.
South Dakota’s Highway Patrol continues to investigate.
A Wasta man has been identified as the person who died Tuesday night in a one-vehicle crash west of Wall, according to the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.
The crash happened around 8:13 p.m. Tuesday on interstate 90 near mile marker 105. A 2005 Nissan Altima was eastbound when it left the roadway and rolled, South Dakota Highway Patrol spokesperson Tony Mangan said.
The driver, 31-year-old Chad Nelson, was not wearing a seat belt. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
