Several area residents were recently honored for individual academic achievement at their respective schools, colleges and universities. 12:00 pm, Feb. 24, 2021 × LP-A s Frank is a finalist for Minnesota Teacher of the Year Kristen Frank, a third grade teacher at Lake Park-Audubon Elementary School in Audubon, has been named as a finalist for 2021 Minnesota Teacher of the Year by Education Minnesota. The 57th Minnesota Teacher of the Year will be chosen from a field of 75 candidates. These candidates have accepted their nominations and completed the required materials to become eligible for the honor. Eligible candidates include pre-kindergarten through 12th grade, Early Childhood Family Education and Adult Basic Education teachers, from public or private schools.

The legislation would have reimbursed former Commerce Commissioner Michelle Kommer and former Commerce Senior Manager Holly Holt, as well as three North Dakota State College of Science leaders, including President John Richman. The five officials submitted claims for reimbursement after criminal probes launched in the wake of critical audit findings that the state auditor forwarded for investigation. No criminal charges resulted.
