Netherlands eases restrictions as vaccination yields results 1 minute read
The Hague, May 17 (EFE).- The Dutch government announced Monday it will continue the easing of coronavirus restrictions as planned, amid shrinking daily infection rates “thanks to vaccinations.”
The government will allow the reopening of leisure centres such as theme parks, zoos, gyms, and swimming pools, as well as brothels.
The Dutch Health Minister Hugo de Jonge said the drop in the country’s infection rate allows the government to continue lifting restrictions, instead of having to hit the “pause button.”
Theme parks and zoos will reopen under a specific set of rules limiting capacity to one person for every 10 square meters, while indoor spaces will have to remain shut.

The United States reaped the fruits of its vaccination campaign against Covid-19 on Friday with 40 per cent of the population having received their first jab as it became the first nation to reach 100 million people with shots.
But Europe s roll-out has faced fresh obstacles in recent days. Only 10 per cent of Europe s total population, around 75million people, has received one vaccine dose, and four per cent, around 30 million people, have received two, according to the World Health Organization.
