COVID vaccine: Here s where you can make an appointment this week

Rockland/Westchester Journal News County health departments again were expected to receive one-dose Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccinations this week as well as mRNA vaccines that require two doses weeks apart. In Week 14 of COVID vaccine distribution, pharmacies and Federally Qualified Health Centers were expected to receive the two-dose mRNA vaccines made by Moderna and Pfizer.  People age 60 and over can book vaccine appointments at any location that administers them, including state-run vaccination sites. Gov. Andrew Cuomo last week said vaccine eligibility would expand as of March 17 to more essential public employees, as will public-facing building workers.  As of March 17, the state would also ease restrictions on who could receive shots from certain vaccine providers. Providers, except for pharmacies, would be able to vaccinate any eligible New Yorker.

Restaurant workers, taxi drivers can get COVID vaccine in NY, Cuomo says

New York State Team ALBANY – New York will allow local governments to administer the COVID-19 vaccine to restaurant workers, taxi or app-based drivers and facilities that care for the developmentally disabled, Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Tuesday. Cuomo s decision, announced during a briefing in Manhattan, came as he s faced pressure from a variety of industries and local government leaders pushing for one group or another to be added to the list of eligible vaccine recipients. The decision was announced a day after he dismissed calls from politicians to expand eligibility as cheap and insincere because the current pool of 7 million eligible recipients far outpaces the 300,000 or so first vaccine doses the state receives each week.

Dutchess Vaccinates People With Developmental Disabilities At Pop-Up Site

0:43 In New York, Dutchess County health workers on Monday vaccinated residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities at a pop-up site. Dutchess County’s Department of Behavioral & Community Health administered the first COVID-19 vaccine dose to 60 residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities at a mobile pop-up site at New Horizons Resources in Pleasant Valley. Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro says that in Phase 1A of the state’s distribution process, staff and residents at three state agencies’ facilities, including those aligned with the Office for People With Developmental Disabilities, are among priority groups for the vaccine, but that state guidance does not include specific facilities where they may get the vaccine.
