West Liberty Grads Tasked to ‘Make Your Mark’ May 9, 2021 West Liberty University’s graduates were challenged at this weekend’s commencement ceremonies to take their next steps and make the world better for as many as they can. “What are you going to do next?” state Sen. Ryan Weld, R-Brooke, said to each of the commencement ceremonies via video. “You’re going to make your mark on the world and make your community and your state a better place. Go out and make your mark. Go out and make a difference. Use your degree … to make a difference. “You will use your degree and use what you have and use the knowledge that you gained and go out and make a difference in the world. What you have isn’t just a diploma but a ticket to a network of alumni across the country. You are now a small part of a bigger network. Use that network to your advantage.”

Weld WEST LIBERTY State Sen. Ryan Weld will deliver the commencement address at West Liberty University’s Spring 2021 Commencement Ceremonies. Weld will provide a virtual speech presented on the Main Street Bank Video Board at both the undergraduate and graduate ceremonies. Due to social distancing requirements, there is one graduate and three undergraduate and ceremonies planned for Friday and Saturday. WLU President W. Franklin Evans will preside at the ceremonies and faculty will participate in the ceremony for their respective colleges. “We are grateful that Senator Weld will join us as our speaker. He is a leader committed to the future and we thank him for his ongoing support for higher education. We are honored by his presence,” Evans said.

Weld West Virginia Senate Majority Whip. Ryan Weld, R-Brooke, will give the keynote address at West Liberty University’s spring commencement, a group of four ceremonies to be held May 7-8 at the university’s Academic, Sports and Recreation Complex. A graduate ceremony will be held at 5 p.m. May 7, while three undergraduate ceremonies will be held at 9 a.m., noon and 3 p.m. May 8. Weld will give his address virtually, and it will be displayed on the ASRC’s video board. WLU President W. Franklin Evans will preside at the ceremonies and faculty will participate in the ceremony for their respective colleges.

Faculty backs Mosser on Bluefield State College | News, Sports, Jobs

From staff reports WHEELING The West Virginia Northern Community College Faculty Assembly added its voice backing WVNCC President Daniel Mosser in his stance against the memorandum of understanding between the City of Wheeling and Bluefield State College. The group released a letter addressed to the city both supporting Mosser and asking the city to reconsider the memorandum. The MOU is a non-binding agreement that allows BSC to explore moving into one of the buildings at the campus of the former Ohio Valley Medical Center. At a city council meeting, Mosser excoriated council members about the agreement, and was joined by Wheeling University Ginny Favede and West Liberty University President W. Franklin Evans that night in voicing their opposition to the MOU.
