A man who allowed €10,000 to be transferred to his bank account in an invoice redirect scheme has been ordered to carry out work in the community instead of serving a prison sentence.
Dublin Circuit Criminal Court heard that it is accepted that Adetola Jimoh (53) was accepting responsibility on the basis of “recklessness” and he believed that he was accepting the cash to buy a car for another man.
Jimoh of Glenview Park, Tallaght pleaded guilty to one charge of money laundering on August 25, 2015. He has no previous convictions.
A youth accused of dangerous driving causing the death of delivery cyclist Thiago Cortes Cortes in Dublin has been served with a book of evidence and sent forward for trial to the circuit court.
Mr Cortes, 28, from Rio de Janeiro, in Brazil, was cycling on North Wall Quay in Dublin when he was struck by a car at about 10.30pm on Aug. 31 last.
The student was delivering food for Deliveroo at the time of the collision.
He was taken by ambulance to the Mater hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
A 16-year-old boy was remanded in custody on Nov. 7 after he was charged with dangerous driving causing the death of Mr Cortes.

Detective Garda Michael Kilfeather told the court that gardaí were alerted to the fact that a payment of €362,810 made by Maynooth University following receipt of an invoice was never received.

A FATHER-OF-one who attacked an intoxicated man in an alley has been jailed for three-and-a-half years.
Dublin Circuit Criminal Court heard that Nathan Harold (26) stole from the victim who had been turned away from a nightclub, punched him a number of times and stamped on him as he was leaving.
Harold of no fixed abode but previously Rathoath Avenue, Finglas pleaded guilty to robbery at Camden Place, Dublin city centre, on 22 November 2019. His 55 previous convictions include convictions for theft, possession of drugs and public order offences.
A transgender woman who assaulted a family friend who was trying to break up a fight outside a bar has been jailed for a year.
Shauna Kavanagh (33), previously known as Sean Kavanagh, has transitioned to a woman since the assaults took place and is now known as Shauna. A gender recognition certificate was handed up in court.
Kavanagh of Priory Hall, Whitehall Road, Kimmage Manor, Dublin, pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to one count of assault causing harm and two counts of assault on James Street, Dublin on December 9, 2017.
