A man prevented over €18,000 from being laundered after it was transferred into his account following a fraudulent email correspondence, a court has heard.
Alexander Cribbin (21) gave his bank details to a friend, but realised things were not “legitimate” when the money was transferred into his account and he subsequently refrained from accessing it.

A MUM-of-two accused of sharing the identity of a boy convicted of a teen girl’s murder has been sent forward for trial.
Hazel Fitzpatrick, 25, will go before Dublin Circuit Criminal Court in July, it was ruled.

The boy and another youth also convicted of murder were juveniles and have the legal right to anonymity.
The murdered teenage girl cannot currently be named either.
Fitzpatrick, of Easton Green, Leixlip, Co Kildare, was served with a book of evidence at Dublin District Court earlier today.

A husband and wife falsely tried to claim they had been injured in a car accident after the husband reversed into an off-duty garda driving a van, a Dublin court has heard.
Rene Cifra (34) was only 15 minutes into his new job as a food delivery man in May 2019 when he missed the house he was delivering to and decided to reverse down Griffith Avenue, Dublin Circuit Criminal Court heard on Tuesday.
Cifra collided with a Mercedes van which was being driven by an off-duty garda and ended up writing off his car.

A man who smashed the windscreen of a patrol car and later punched a garda in the face has been jailed for 16 months.
Thomas Doyle (26) was spotted by Garda John Ryan driving in the Crumlin area. The officer, who was a passenger in a marked patrol car, indicated that Doyle should pull over as he knew he was a disqualified driver.
