Two men have been sent for trial accused of attacking a pensioner who was allegedly held at knife-point and beaten with his own walking stick during a house raid in Dublin.
Lee McDonnell, 29, of Colepark Green, Ballyfermot, and Alan Downey, 38, of Colepark Road, Ballyfermot, in west Dublin, were served with books of evidence when they appeared at Cloverhill District Court.
They are charged with assault causing harm and aggravated burglary at the home of a 73-year-old neighbour of Mr Downey in the early hours of Nov. 20 last year.
Judge Victor Blake noted the Director of Public Prosecution directed trial on indictment and he granted a return for trial order.
