A City Councillor has expressed relief that An Bord Pleanála rejected plans for a co-living development near Phibsboro on the north side.  The proposed build would have incorporated the historic and protected structure of the former Hendron s factory into its final plans.  Local Rep.   House-builder Glenveagh can now enter talks with Dublin City Council on its plan to sell 71 apartments to it for an estimated €33.44 million. This follows An Bord Pleanála giving Glenveagh the green light for 702 “build to rent” apartments at Castleforbes Business Park at Sheriff Street and East Road, Dublin 1. The development, on a six-acre site 400m from the Spencer Dock Luas stop, comprises of nine apartment blocks ranging from a storey in height to one 18-storey block. As part of its Part V social housing obligations, Glenveagh is planning to sell six three-bed apartments at an indicative cost of €791,531 each to the city council as part of the proposed €33.4 million deal.

Closing Date for poster competition extended to 30th April

The closing date for the Dublin City Development Plan Schools Poster Competition has been extended to Friday, 30th April 2021 to facilitate schools returning to their classrooms this month. The Lord Mayor of Dublin Hazel Chu has invited primary students from 3rd to 6th class to create a poster of their vision for the city as part of the public engagement process for the Dublin City Development Plan 2022- 2028. If schools would like their students to talk to the Lord Mayor about their posters, she would be delighted to chat to them online.  The Dublin City Development Plan sets out a vision and direction for the future of the city acting as an over-arching roadmap for the development of our city, protection of our environment, heritage, and amenities as well as in mitigating against climate change. The Plan is currently under review and a dedicated website in place to assist members of the public to be informed and to engage with the consultation process.
