Goldsworth Valley to be torn down

Outside of Goldsworth Valley apartments Spencer Matthews, Photo Editor Western Michigan University’s Goldsworth Valley Apartments are to be torn down following the 2021 Summer II session.  The date of demolition has not yet been decided. Residents were notified via email in November 2020 the apartments would no longer be available after August 2021. The elimination of these apartments is not part of an existing project plan. New student residences are not to be constructed in the space said Diane Anderson, vice president of Student Affairs. Plans to construct future campus housing have not yet been solidified.  Goldsworth was designated to fit non-traditional students over twenty-one years old, including those with families, graduate students and international students. The apartments have housed students for six decades.

York, ME, seniors line-dance outdoors with Center for Active Living

YORK, Maine A group of 10 women followed Willie Nelson s smooth country voice in a line dancing class Friday at the Center for Active Living during their first week resuming outdoor activities full-time since the pandemic began. The participants stepped in unison to the lyrics and showed their unwavering familiarity with the type of dance, despite it being only the second time this year they have been able to gather for the class.  A line dance contains a repeated sequence of steps in which a group of people dance while facing either each other or in the same direction and execute the steps at the same time.

Little Three to be demolished starting May

Demolition on Western Michigan University’s “Little Three” dormitory village is set to begin in the first week of May 2021. The deconstruction is scheduled to be complete in September.

Church organization helps connect Cache Valley volunteers with service opportunities

For Cache Valley residents who would like to be involved with service in the community but aren’t sure where to start, they need not look farther than JustServe.org, a free website that allows individuals to find service opportunities with nonprofit, faith, community and government organizations. JustServe is a way to “just serve,” connecting volunteers to their community by finding opportunities to serve geared toward their specific abilities and time available for service. The service, provided by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, encourages organizations to post their volunteer needs as well as to encourage individuals to sign up to help out.
