Beaumont Hospital Royal Oak is among three hospitals where NorthStar Anesthesiologists has taken over anesthesia services.

St. Vincent nurses hold another informational picket over contract, staffing
WORCESTER Dozens of St. Vincent Hospital nurses returned to the picket line Wednesday, saying that staffing levels remain unsafe and that no real progress has been made toward a new contract.
“We’re overwhelmed here: there are not enough hands on deck,” Registered Nurse Beckett Augat said while wearing a sandwich-board sign outside the hospital.
The nurses characterized the event as an informational picket.
The nurses first picketed in December, but Augat said there had been no real progress on a contract or staffing levels since then.
St. Vincent Hospital management, meanwhile, criticized the union with “disseminating inflammatory and misleading rhetoric to try to advance their position” in contract discussions.
Two former Detroit Medical Center cardiologists have won a $10.6 million arbitration award against the DMC s for-profit parent company, including reinstatement of their medical staff privileges at Harper, Hutzel and Sinai-Grace hospitals, according to the doctors attorney.
Attorney Deborah Gordon is asking a U.S. District Court judge to affirm the December arbitration award for Dr. Amir Kaki and Dr. Mahir Elder.
The arbitrator found that Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare acted with malice in fall 2018 when the DMC fired Kaki and Elder from their leadership positions, and soon afterward, discontinued their staff privileges in retaliation after the doctors raised concerns about substandard care and cost-cutting measures impacting patient care, according to Gordon s court filing.
