This virtual discussion will spotlight the talents of seven mixed-race artists who lived and studied in either the United States or Europe. Panelists will discuss what influenced these people to become artists and what their impact on world politics entailed.Â
The panel discussion is led by Savona Bailey-McClain, Executive Director and Chief Curator of the West Harlem Art Fund. Joining McClain is William Keyse Rudolph, Ph.D, Deputy Director, Curatorial Affairs, The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art; Virginia Anderson, Ph.D., Curator of American Art, Baltimore Museum of Art ; Paul H. D. Kaplan, Professor of Art History at Purchase College, SUNY; Daniel M. Fulco, Ph.D., Curator at the Museum of Fine Arts - Washington County.

The Israel Museum, Jerusalem has awarded Sara Cwynar as winner of the 2020 Shpilman International Prize for Excellence in Photography. The Canadian artist will receive an award of $40,000 in recognition of her powerful activation of the photographic medium and her original critique of its political histories and to support the research, production, and post-production of a multi-platform video and photography project. Honorable Mentions were also granted to Penelope Umbrico (USA) and Lebohang Kganye (South Africa).

The Dallas Museum of Art will present The showcase will include four paintings and a drawing on loan from a private collection, courtesy of the Galería Arvil in Mexico City. It will run simultaneously with Devoted: Art and Spirituality in Mexico and New Mexico, featuring works from the DMA’s Latin American collection.
