AVON, Ohio The giving continued Saturday in Avon, where roughly 300 people received COVID-19 vaccines at a skilled nursing center.
Yet concerns remain when it comes to possible side effects of the vaccine.
A doctor in Boston became one of the latest people to have an allergic reaction to Moderna’s coronavirus vaccine.
He received it on Thursday, then used a personal EpiPen which he had on hand for a shellfish allergy.
Today his doctors say he is doing well, while hoping the news does not deter the people who need the vaccine from getting it.

The vaccines are here. It’s almost hard to believe. Our pandemic-weary healthcare practitioners are receiving the first doses of Pfizer’s drug. While hospital employees in the major centers were notified at the first of the week of their places in line, community physicians in the outliers have been left wondering when their turn will be.
Many community physicians run practices that cannot receive Pfizer’s vaccine because of they are being shipped in massive quantities that require ultra-cold freezers to preserve the medicine. Many are not affiliated with a hospital, even as they face patients exhibiting symptoms and coming in for testing after possible exposures.

Gov. Gregg Abbott announced new appointments to both the District One and District Two Review Committees of the Texas Medical Board on Thursday. These appointees are responsible for evaluating medical practices in their respective districts.
Each committee consists of three physicians who are doctors of medicine, one physician who is a doctor of osteopathic medicine, and three members of the public.

An environment services worker who cleans the emergency room at Methodist Dallas Medical Center was the first person to receive Pfizer s COVID-19 vaccine in the state.
The hospital received 5,850 dosages in its first shipment Monday morning.
Methodist Dallas Medical Center is one of four hospitals in Texas that received shipments Monday. The hospitals in Houston and Austin will begin vaccinating Tuesday and the one in San Antonio will on Wednesday, according to officials from each facility.
