“Fair Park is a big facility. We’ve got 277 acres, he said. In some cases, we’re still in the fact-finding process, for lack of a better phrase.”
On March 4, the Dallas Park and Recreation Department released a report detailing millions of dollars worth of damage to 87 department facilities, including the Dallas Zoo, Dallas Arboretum, aquatic facilities and recreation centers.
Though the cost for many repairs for Fair Park have not been determined, the report estimates damage to the Hall of State caused by burst pipes will cost about $3.7 million to fix.
Groundhog Annie Saw Her Shadow At Dallas Arboretum
Dallas ArboretumDallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden hosted its third annual Groundhog Day celebration Feb. 2. A crowd of 125 people turned out to see if Arboretum Annie saw her shadow. Annie attended Groundhog Day at Dallas Arboretum on loan from Wild Things Zoofari north of Austin.
Groundhog Day
Old folklore legends claim that if a groundhog comes out of hiding and sees her shadow, it will frighten her into running back inside. That means six more weeks of winter for us. But if she doesn’t see her shadow, spring arrives early. Sadly, Arboretum Annie saw her shadow, so it looks like we’re in for another stretch of winter.
Days to remember for hazardous waste, shredding, mulch

Gaston County has commandeered the Farmers Market in Gastonia to administer the vaccine to halt the Coronavirus COVID-19, which has crippled our world. We are grateful for the Health Department for their insight and orchestration of this vaccine. They continue to perfect and tweak their delivery system, so as we get more and more vaccine available, please refer to the county website www.gastonsaves.com and then hopefully on to the vaccine site, www.gastonsaves.com/covid19vaccine.
