Frisco hotel sells as investors start to make similar deals

A Frisco hotel has changed hands.
The sale of the Hyatt House Frisco comes at a time when the hotel industry has suffered huge losses due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Even so, some North Texas hotel properties are starting to sell.
The 132-room Hyatt House Frisco is on Parkwood Boulevard near Stonebriar Centre mall and was built by Lewisville hotel firm NewcrestImage in 2016.
An investment group from the Northeast just bought the property.
“This sale demonstrates that despite the upheavals of COVID, a well-positioned asset in a strongly performing market has attractive investment appeal,” Mehul Patel, chairman and CEO of NewcrestImage, said in a statement. “Our company constantly evaluates how we can best add value and boost profitably for our investors.
California investment firm opens Dallas office north of downtown

A Los Angeles-based investment firm is opening an office in Dallas’ Uptown area.
Canyon Partners LLC, an alternative investments firm, is taking office space in the Harwood No. 2 building on McKinnon Street north of downtown Dallas.
The 30-year-old investment adviser also has offices in Hong Kong, London, New York, Seoul, Shanghai and Tokyo.

Dallas apartment builder StreetLights Residential has opened its newest rental community this time in Frisco.
The 358-unit Margo apartments are at 4545 Mission Ave., west of the Dallas North Tollway. The project is the third phase of StreetLights’ Canals apartment community and includes both flats and townhomes.
“We’re thrilled to complete the third phase of the Canals at Grand Park and [are] continuing to expand our presence in Frisco,” StreetLights vice president of development Greg Coutant said in a statement. “The Margo is a perfect example of our mission designing beautiful homes that combine simple elegance with the convenience of a vibrant, growing neighborhood.”
Suspect arrested after shooting leaves 1 dead, 1 injured in Frisco

FRISCO, Texas - Frisco police took one person into custody for a shooting Friday night that resulted in the death of one person and injured another.
The shooting happened just before 7:30 p.m., at the Stewart Creek Apartment on Stonebrook, near Frisco High School, just east of the Dallas North Tollway.
Responding officers found two victims, who have not yet been identified. One was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other was taken to a local hospital. Their condition was not released.
Police said one suspect was taken into custody. The suspect’s name has not been released.
