Date Time Dangerous operation of a stolen vehicle at Townsville Six children have been taken into custody after a stolen four-wheel drive was allegedly driven at high speed towards police and members of the public in Townsville this morning. It is alleged at around 5.20am seven juveniles stole a Toyota Landcruiser Prado from a home in Kelso and were witnessed driving at high speed on the wrong side of the road and travelling through red traffic lights, forcing members of the public to take evasive action. The vehicle continued to be driven at high speed through Townsville, allegedly attempting to ram a number of police cars.

06:39 EDT, 30 January 2021 Six children have been arrested and another is on the run after they allegedly took a stolen car on a dangerous joy ride through the streets of Townsville in north Queensland. A Toyota Landcruiser was stolen from Kelso around 5.20am on Saturday, before it was spotted driving at high speed on the wrong side of the road, through red traffic lights. Members of the public were forced to take action to avoid being hit, and the car unsuccessfully tried to ram several squad cars, police say. One police officer was taken to hospital with head and spinal injuries after slamming into a pole during the incident
