The first COVID-19 vaccine in Townsville has been administered on Friday 5 March to registered nurse Rebecca DeJong.
Minister for Health and Ambulance Services Yvette D’Ath has visited the Townsville University Hospital’s Pfizer hub, which will bring the vaccine to North Queensland’s frontline workers.
“It has been an incredible two weeks and I’m so pleased to be in Townsville to launch the 6
th Pfizer vaccination hub,” Minister D’Ath said.
“The vaccine in this initial stage of the rollout will be administered to frontline workers in hotel quarantine, in our hospitals and at our ports and borders. “They’re the most vulnerable to infection and getting them vaccinated early on is a crucial part of our fight against COVID-19. “I cannot overstate how proud I am of our hardworking staff in Townsville for getting this vaccination hub up and running. “This is all about keeping North Queens
