Office for Aging working overtime to keep aged population informed on COVID vaccine - 870 AM 97 7FM News Talk WHCU870 AM 97 7FM News Talk WHCU

3 months ago in Local Photo: WHCU ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) – The Tompkins County Office for Aging is working overtime to keep the at-risk aged population up-to-date on vaccination information. Director Lisa Monroe says the office continues to be inundated with calls. “Really at this point the system isn’t older adult friendly if you want to say. People lack the access to internet and people don’t own computers or smart devices,” said Lisa Monroe, Director, Tompkins County office of Aging. So the office has decided to prioritize help for those challenged by technology. “The bigger issue at this point is, it’s based on the supply of the vaccine that’s in the community. So if there’s no availability we can’t help them register. So we’re asking them to call us back when we get more vaccine and clinics open up and more appointments and we’ll walk through the process with them to make sure they can get registered,” said Monroe.
