Five fun things to do in Chippewa County this weekend Laker Shanty Day From 5:30 to 10:30 p.m. at Lake Superior State University’s Cisler Center, located at 650 W. Easterday Ave. in the Sault, Lake State is having its first Laker Shanty Day. This event is free and open to the public. The public will have the chance to enjoy tailgate-type food, watch Laker hockey on a movie screen and relax with your choice of beer and wine with a cash bar. Tickets are $20 at the door. This event follows the Four Pillars of Laker Safety.  Winter hiking event For those looking to get outside and getting intimate with nature this weekend, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, the North Country Trail, Hiawatha Shore-To-Shore Chapter is hosting a hiking event where residents will have the chance to take in the views of the Upper Falls at Tahquamenon Falls State Park.
